He took his $300 stimulus money and invested in a website about Glacier National Park.
He creates web contend about the park and makes money from advertising and affilaite marketing.
If someone comes to the site and they clink on REI (one of his advertisers) and if they purchase something in a certain amount of time he receives a commission.
Now they own 5 different web site properties and they also have a Search Engine Optimization consulting business.
He put his resignation in a week ago so he can now devote full time to his business.
He started his business based on his passion for Glacier National Park.
His other web sites cover criminal justice careers, camping reviews, art careers, and binoculars.
It took him 3 years part time to be able go full time with the business.
If he wanted to live tight he could have gone full time after a year of business.
He graduated from U of Michigan from the Film program.
He was a struggling screen writer.
He stared a part time business so he was not reliant on one source of income.
He works 60-70 hours a week for about 2 years before he went full time.
His motivation was to have control of his time when he and his wife have children.
His SEO consulting services are about $200-$300 a month for a small to medium business to get their web site on the top of Google.
He was waiting tables and serving beer in a bar when he decided to start his business.
He started at making 30 cents a day on the one site and eventually got the business big enough to quit his job.
It was all a matter of teaching himself what worked and what did not work.
There was very little overhead in the beginning, just the server fees.
It's just a matter of finding the time.
He would wake up at 4 am to work on his site, go to work, and come home and work again at night.
He would not be here if it was not for his stimulus check.
