No One Applying For $65,000 Grant Program!

No One Applying For $65,000…….
….. that is available for people who want to expand or start a small business in upstate New York. The Worker Ownership Resource Center in Elmira is using this money to give $5,000 in low interest loans to entrepreneurs who have trouble getting money elsewhere. As of the beginning of April, no one had applied. You can reach them at 607/737-5212. Their money came from the Empire State Development Corp http://www.empire.state.ny.us/portal/flashed.html

$100 Million For New Home Owners….
… is available for down payments and closing costs in Pennsylvania. The money comes from U.S. Department and Housing and Urban Development along with non-profit organizations. See http://www.senate.gov/~santorum/

Volunteer Opportunities and a $10,000 Scholarship….
….. are available from the government’s USA Freedom Corps. Learn how to help your community, help the troops and help yourself by doing good and getting money for school too. See www.usafreedomcorps.gov

Taxes Don’t Have To Be Complicated…
…….a recent report shows that the instructions have increased from about 40 pages to 126 pages since 1975. But you don’t have to make taxes complicated because most taxpayers are not complicated. I just take last year’s return. Put in the figures for this year. And look in the instructions under New Changes To The Tax Law for anything that might apply to me. I’m done in 45 minutes, tops.
